[origin: EP0581134A2] A safety-belt buckle in a safety-belt arrangement in motor vehicles has a part (11) attached to the chassis (12) and a locking tongue (13) which is connected to the vehicle chassis (12) via passenger restraint belts (33, 34). Part (11) of the buckle has a latch (16) which can be moved transversely to the direction of insertion of the locking tongue (13) and a release button (18) which can be moved parallel to the direction of insertion of the locking tongue (13), counter to spring force. The release button (18) is arranged in a manner which allows it to pivot to a limited extent about a transverse pivot (25) in such a way that it is pressed lightly against the surface (26) of the inserted locking tongue (13) by the spring arrangement (17) of the release button. <IMAGE>
