[origin: WO9219510A1] A closure for containers has a closure top (3) which closes the mouth of the container and merges into a casing (5). The casing has a locking device, such as a screw thread, which co-operates with the outer wall of the container. The closure is characterized by a pressure-relief valve (3; 15; 5) which can be actuated by an dilatation section (15) in the casing (5) of the closure (1). Excess pressure in the container causes the dilation section to expand, whereupon the closure top (3) rises from the mouth region of the container and the excess pressure is relieved by blow-off. The excess pressure required to release the pressure-relief valve can be influenced by the shape given to the dilatation section. The dilatation section is preferably reversibly deformable, and therefore the container is tightly sealed again after the blow-off from the mouth of the container.
