Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0582818A1] The invention relates to a supporting frame for a chair, in particular for an office chair, which can be adjusted in height and inclination and comprises a seat support (1), a back support (2), a supporting and pivoting device (80) and a standing column (5). The seat and back supports (1, 2) are mounted on an axle shaft so as to be pivotable, against the restoring force of at least one first spring element (40, 40'), about a horizontal axis (X) oriented transversely to the sitting direction by means of struts (46, 32) arranged at the knee side and back side and supported on the said axle shaft, and can be locked in any desired position by a second spring element and released again. Arranged on the standing column (5) is a holding device (10) which is penetrated by the axle shaft in the horizontal direction and on which there is mounted, so as to be pivotable about a bolt (15), a clamping element (20) by means of which the restoring force of the first spring elements (40, 40') can be adjusted. <IMAGE>
