[origin: EP0583604A1] In order to provide a compact support and centring device (1) with a small vertical dimension for a centre buffer coupling for track-bound overland vehicles, for the purpose of elastic supporting and restoring an elastomer element (2) is used, which is arranged between two plates (3a, 3b) and connected thereto. The elastomer element (2) is aligned or arranged here in the direction of the coupling axis and in the vertical coupling plane, the plates (3a, 3b) which hold the elastomer element (2) at both end sides being vertically aligned.
