The present invention relates to a process for economy and plumping (filling) chrome tanning wherein the pelts are admixed in the pickle bath with an aldehyde- and/or keto-carboxylic acid and then tanned, characterised in that the addition of the aldehyde- and/or keto-carboxylic acid and any other organic and/or inorganic acids is preceded by a pretreatment of the delimed and bated pelts with anionic, colloidal silicate solution.

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Chromspar- und Chromfüllgerbung, bei dem man die Blößen im Pickelbad mit einer Aldehyd- und/oder Ketocarbonsäure versetzt und anschließend gerbt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß vor der Zugabe der Aldehyd- und/oder Ketocarbonsäure und gegebenenfalls anderen organischen und/oder anorganischen Säuren, die entkälkten und gebeizten Blößen mit einer anionischen, kolloidalen Silikatlösung vorbehandelt werden.
