A pneumatic operated fastener driving device having an improved piston (18,50), which together with the cylinder (24,60) form an elastic interference fit connection (18,37) so that the piston (18,50) is held from movement until a sufficient air pressure is applied to the piston (18,50). The piston (18,50) has little or no frictional resistance with the inner surface (45,59) of the cylinder (24,60) during the driving or return stroke. <IMAGE>
