Date Nov. 26, 1992.A face mask, in particular for mechanically ventilating a patient, the mask comprising means interposed between a breathe-in/breathe-out pipe (10) and at least one of the nose and mouth orifices of the patient (5) to provide a sealed connection between the pipe and the respiratory tract of the patient, wherein said means comprise a thin shell (1) delimited by a substantially ovoid concave inside surface (7) whose apex is provided with an opening (2), a thick and flexible lining (6) suitable for engaging inside the shell (1) and projecting beyond said shell in the form of a sealing rim that deforms to match the shape of the portion of the face (5) that surrounds the opening to the respiratory tract, the lining having a tubular endpiece (8) suitable for being snap-fastened in the opening (2) of said shell (1) and forming a sleeve for connection to the pipe (10), the mask also having a harness (3, 4) for fixing it to the head of the user (5) and including straps that are fixed to the shell.

Le masque facial de l'invention possède des moyens interposés entre une tubulure (10) d'inspiration-expiration et au moins l'un des orifices nasal et buccal du patient (5) pour assurer une connexion étanche entre la tubulure et les voies respiratoires du patient, qui comprennent une coque mince (1) délimitée par une surface intérieure (7) concave sensiblement ovoïde dont le sommet est pourvu d'une ouverture (2), une garniture (6) souple et épaisse, emboîtable à l'intérieur de la coque (1) en débordant au-delà de cette coque en un bourrelet d'étanchéité pour épouser en se déformant la partie du visage (5) entourant le débouché des voies respiratoires, la garniture possédant un embout tubulaire (8) susceptible d'être encliqueté dans l'ouverture (2) de cette coque (1) et formant un manchon de raccordement pour la tubulure (10) et un harnais (3, 4) de fixation du masque sur la tête de l'utilisateur (5) comportant des sangles fixées à la coque.
