[origin: WO9319325A1] A burner for generating hot gasses has a burner pipe (10) that comprises a support pipe (12) linked to a heating tube (14) with a nozzle (28) arranged in the support pipe which ejects a jet of fuel (36). A diaphragm (18) that separates inside the burner pipe a pre-chamber (16) from a combustion chamber (20) has a central bore (38) through which passes the jet of fuel. Recirculation openings (56) are arranged in the heating tube and allow the outer recirculation (54) of the cooled down flue gas. An element (62) suppresses the outer recirculation during a starting phase of the burner. In order to improve such a burner so that the outer recirculation can be reliably suppressed during the starting phase, the element for suppressing the outer recirculation is arranged within the burner pipe and can be controlled by controlling means guided within the support pipe.
