[origin: EP0586319A1] The invention relates to systems for the remote surveillance of premises protected by closure members (1) controlled by a monitoring unit (8) situated inside the premises. The monitoring unit (8) is composed of a management unit (13) cooperating with a communication interface unit (29) linked to the telephone network. To check the proper operation of the system remotely, the management unit (13) creates event words representative of the utilisation of the site and transmits them to the interface unit (29). Thus, the monitoring operations do not slow down the control operations. <IMAGE>
