[origin: EP0587531A2] The sheet format (3) output from a printer (1) is sensed on a feed table (2) by sensors (4-8). Predetermined sheet formats have to be rotated through 90 DEG so that they can subsequently be fed in a positionally correct manner to a folding machine (9). The rotation operation for selected sheets (3) is carried out by lifting the sheet by means of a lifting-rotating element (18). After the rotation operation and lowering, the sheet is conveyed away at elevated speed and fed to a folding machine in a direction (Z2) identical to the feed-in direction (Z1). This results in a very compact design with low space requirement between the printer (1) and folding machine (9). <IMAGE>
