[origin: EP0589086A1] The invention concerns a dental chair which includes a patient-bearing system in which specific treatment areas on the teeth in the upper and lower jaws are assigned to specific chair positions. For such a chair it is proposed that an operating unit (40) be provided with an operating surface (41) on which the rows of teeth in the upper jaw or lower jaw are or can be depicted as a diagram (42, 52, 62). The dental diagram is divided up into several sections (43-48; 53-58; 63-68) which represent the treatment areas of those teeth whose treatment requires identical or very similar chair positions. The sections can be optically represented on the operating surface (41). The sections are allocated operating means (P43-P48; P53-P58; P63-P68) whose operation activates the adjusting means (A1-A6) for adjustment of the chair parts into the particular chair position chosen. Allocation of the operating means to the sections is fixed by their arrangement and by their colour or structural design. <IMAGE>
