The invention relates to a method of forming round tubes (4), especially longitudinally seam-welded tubes, into profiled tubes with polygonal or other non-circular sections. In order to find a method and an apparatus for carrying out the method for forming round tubes into profiled tubes with polygonal or other non-circular sections which allows these profiled tubes to be produced in a simple and reliable manner without the need for a high outlay on plant and in which it is possible to use known plant and plant components, it is proposed that the radius of the tube wall be altered by the stepwise action of radial force on circumferentially spaced areas of the inner wall of the tube and that the tube wall be stretched at least between the areas in which the radial force acts by simultaneous enlargement of the internal size of the tube. <IMAGE>

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Umformen von runden, insbesondere längsnahtgeschweißten Rohren (4) in Profilrohre mit polygonalen oder anderen von der Kreisform abweichenden Querschnitten. Um ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zur Durchführung des Verfahrens zum Umformen von runden Rohren in Profilrohre mit polygonalen oder anderen von der Kreisform abweichenden Querschnitten zu finden, das in einfacher und funktionssicherer Weise die Herstellung dieser Profilrohre gestattet, ohne daß ein großer Anlagenaufwand erforderlich wird und bei dem bekannte Anlagen und Anlagenteile benutzt werden können, wird vorgeschlagen, daß durch schrittweise radiale Krafteinwirkung auf in Umfangsrichtung voneinander beabstandete Bereiche der Rohrinnenwand der Radius der Rohrwand in diesen Bereich verändert und durch gleichzeitige Vergrößerung des Innenumfanges des Rohres die Rohrwand mindestens zwischen den Bereichen der radialen Krafteinwirkung gestreckt wird. <IMAGE>
