[origin: EP0589176A2] In a method for testing the tightness of a tank installation for motor vehicles in which the tank is subjected to a partial vacuum by means of a partial vacuum accumulator, testing takes place after the internal combustion engine has been switched off. The influence of the internal combustion engine is excluded by means of an enclosed tank degassing valve in the connection between the fuel container and the internal combustion engine. <IMAGE>
