Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0589746A1] A submunition with directed effect moves along a substantially vertical direction V with a translational speed v parallel to V and a rotational speed r about an axis parallel to V. The submunition includes a shaped charge (2) with axis D forming an acute angle t with the axis V and a detection device with axis d forming an angle u with the axis D, means (21 to 24; 26) for detecting a target (5) and means (8) for triggering the shaped charge (2). The submunition further includes means (28) for determining the translational speed v at any instant, and calculation means (29) for calculating, as a function of v, a value ui of the angle u minimising the offset (e) between the position (M) of a target detected at the instant in question and the point of impact (M') of the core of the shaped charge (2) if the latter were triggered at the instant in question, as well as means for giving the angle u the said value ui. Application to a charge with directed effect particularly making it possible to increase the probability of hitting a target such as a land vehicle. <IMAGE>
