Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0589781A1] The invention relates to a reductive decontaminant gel and to its use for decontaminating surfaces. This reductive gel consists of a colloidal solution with a pH at least equal to 13 comprising: a) 20 to 30% by weight of a gelling agent such as alumina, b) 0.1 to 14 mol/l of a base such as NaOH, and c) 0.1 to 4.5 mol/l of a reducing agent having an oxidation-reduction potential E0 less than -600 mV/SHE in strongly basic medium (pH >/= 13), for example NaBH4, Na2S, Na2S2O4 or hydrazine. This reductive gel can be used for decontaminating metal surfaces covered with adhering oxide layers.
