Abstract (en)

[origin: DE4121009A1] The invention relates to a circuit for operating a discharge lamp. According to the invention, there is a series circuit of a posistor V1 with a bidirectionally operating breakdown voltage component V2 in parallel to the inductive resistor L1 and/or the capacitor C1 in a load circuit which comprises a discharge lamp H1, an inductive resistor L1 in series with the discharge lamp H1 and a capacitor C1 in parallel with the discharge lamp H1, the posistor V1 and the bidirectionally operating breakdown voltage component V2 are thermally coupled. The purpose of the invention is to provide a simple circuit for operating a discharge lamp which facilitates the substantially constant ignition of a discharge lamp.
