Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0590211A1] Item of furniture including a height-adjustable worktop, of the type composed of a fixed lower portion (1) and of an upper portion (2) which can be moved in terms of height, the vertical separation between the said portions resulting from the relative position of at least a pair of parallel inclined planes, integral, respectively, with the said portions, characterised in that the first inclined plane (5) includes a groove (7) intended for guiding the sliding of a rib having dimensions corresponding to the second inclined plane (3), housings, in a number corresponding to the number of relative positions of the upper portion with respect to the lower portion, are made in the same rib, whilst a pin (9) having dimensions corresponding to those of the said housings is fastened in the said groove, the selection of which of the housings the said pin (9) is to be inserted in, which selection determines the said vertical spacing, resulting from the position of the said pin with respect to the said housings (8), whilst the blocking in this position results from the position of a slide mounted slidably in the lower inclined plane, means integral with the said upper portion making it possible, from outside the said upper portion, to immobilise the said slide in any chosen position. <IMAGE>
