[origin: EP0590322A2] The invention relates to a process for the production of a support (carrier, substrate) material for an image-receiving material for thermal dye diffusion transfer, comprising a carrier and an interlayer containing microbeads, where the interlayer contains a film-forming binder having a minimum film-formation temperature of at least 25 DEG C and a pigment in the form of hollow polymeric microbeads, the microbeads having a cavity with a volume of between 10 and 55% of the total volume of the bead.
