[origin: EP0591020A1] Files including status reports (states) originating from remote systems (RS) of a network are transferred automatically to a local system (LS) managing a printer by virtue of the present process. To do this, the printer being connected to the network, two synchronisation files or "pipes", associated with each file transfer, are used, a first (P1) directed from the local system towards the remote system and a second (P2) directed from the remote system towards the local system. There is thus created an automatic unit for porting status reports with a view to their printing on the local system printer. These synchronisation files provide mainly for synchronisation and communication between a procedure (SCP) for supervising and controlling remote systems and which is initiated at the local system and a file transfer procedure (FTP) returning the status reports to be printed from the remote system to the local system. <IMAGE>
