[origin: EP0591101A1] The method and the device for preparing sheets (30) for packaging make it possible to cut out a packaging sheet from a strip (3) and to present it opposite the box (packet) (20) to be packaged. By carrying out, first of all, a precut (32), leaving a few points of attachment (32A) remaining between the end of the strip and the precut sheet (31), then by imposing a longitudinal tension on it and by imparting an impact to it, it is entirely separated from the strip and a space is created between the end of the strip and the cut sheet. In this manner, the risk of jamming of the packaging machine is avoided, while simplifying the synchronisation of the various elements of the device which makes it possible to operate the packaging machine (1) at a high production rate. <IMAGE>
