Abstract (en)

[origin: DE4120659A1] To prevent electrical leaks in the combustion chamber end of sparking plugs for fuel-air mixtures and hence to produce constantly high-powered sparks, a tripping diode cascade (29) is built into the longitudinal drilling (24) of the electrically insulating body (17) of a sparking plug (19). This tripping diode cascade (29) forms one component with the connector (30) of the sparking plug (10) and is surrounded by an electrically insulating shell (31) by means of which the longitudinal drilling (24) in the electrically insulating body (17) is filled. On the combustion chamber side the tripping diode cascade (29) is connected to be electrically conductive to a coupling pin (28), the combustion chamber side section of which penetrates into a prior art electrically conductive moulding (27) and is thus connected to the central electrode (25) of the sparking plug (10). The description relates to several easily fitted and reliable embodiments of the arrangement of a tripping diode cascade (29) in the electrically insulating body (17) of sparking plugs (10).
