An actuator is proposed which has a piston rod (3) projecting from the cylinder (1) at least on one end face. Provided on the piston rod (3) at the periphery is at least one bearing surface (15) extending over a large part of its length and having a flat configuration. Firmly arranged on the bearing surface (15) is a measuring section (14) which extends in the longitudinal direction (12) of the piston rod (3) and can be scanned optically or electrically. In this way, the position of the piston rod (3) and/or of the piston connected to the piston rod (3) and arranged in the cylinder (1) can be reliably determined with relatively simple measures while ensuring a compact construction. <IMAGE>

Es wird ein Kolben-Zylinder-Aggregat vorgeschlagen, das eine an mindestens einer Stirnseite aus dem Zylinder (1) herausragende Kolbenstange (3) aufweist. An der Kolbenstange (3) ist umfangsseitig mindestens eine sich über einen Großteil ihrer Länge erstreckende und Flachgestalt besitzende Tragfläche (15) vorgesehen, an der eine sich in Längsrichtung (12) der Kolbenstange (3) erstreckende, optisch oder elektrisch abfragbare Meßstrecke (14) fest angeordnet ist. Auf diese Weise kann mit relativ einfachen Maßnahmen unter Gewährleistung eines kompakten Aufbaus eine zuverlässige Positionsbestimmung der Kolbenstange (3) und/oder des mit dieser verbundenen und im Zylinder (1) angeordneten Kolbens erfolgen. <IMAGE>
