Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0592829A1] The invention is intended to overcome the disadvantage of known overload relays that they cannot be combined, or can be combined only in a costly manner, with contactors and outgoing phase conductors of various connection types, phase magnitudes and phase separations. The new overload relay (10) consists of the three modules (which are encapsulated in moulded housings): basic apparatus (12), connecting block (14) on the contactor side, and connecting block (16) on the load side. Both connecting blocks (14; 16) are provided with phase connections (22) whose connection type and/or phase interval and/or phase magnitude (23) may be the same or different. The connecting blocks (14; 16) are mechanically and electrically detachably connected to the basic apparatus (12). At least the basic apparatus (12) or the connecting blocks (14; 16) has or have means for fastening on a mounting base. In the case of a further solution, the connecting blocks (14; 16) are of a design type which is compatible with at least two different contactors (2). A typical field of application of the invention is motor protection. <IMAGE>
