[origin: EP0593109A1] The invention relates to a machine for closing a container (1) by means of a cover (lid) (3), comprising means (8, 11) for continuously conveying containers, a plurality of shaping devices (14) each composed of at least two elements intended to interact in order to encircle each container, means for driving the shaping devices adapted in order to displace them in a closed loop, means (38, 39, 47, 48) for supplying covers (3) which are adapted in order to present each cover in an inclined fashion above a container (1), in a position such that the said container entrains this cover with it, and shaping means (30, 32) which are adapted in order to exert, on the cover, a pressure capable of giving rise to assembly of the container (1) and of the said cover (3). <IMAGE>
