Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0593813A1] An electrographic printing or copying device with a thermal fixing station has an arrangement (42, 43, 46, 47) for the menu-driven setting of operating parameters of the fixing station. The essential operating parameters are in this case the fixing energy and the underpressure in the fixing station. Characteristics specific to the recording carrier, e.g. the paper substance (paper basis (basic) weight) of the paper are input via an operator (control) panel (43), and fixing stages are selected. The fixing stages designate specific temperature combinations which are to be set on the units of the fixing station, such as fixing roller (11), preheating saddle (21) and heating saddle (23). An evaluation arrangement (42) assigned to the controller of the device determines from the input fixing stages and the paper substance, desired values (TS) of a control arrangement which controls the operating parameters such as fixing energy and underpressure in the fixing station. The input of the paper substance and type of paper and the selection of the fixing stages is performed by calling up a menu in the operator panel (43). It is also possible to call up program sequence menus combining a plurality of submenus. <IMAGE>
