[origin: EP0594017A1] For the collection or for the reception and disposal of useful materials, waste material, refuse or the like, a hinged container (1) is proposed which consists of two container sections (2a and 2b), e.g. half-shells, which are divided along a common closure plane and are connected to each other, such that they can be folded away from one another, at their top via hinges (3) aligned parallel to the closure plane. Each container section or each half-shell (2a and 2b) has, offset relative to the axis of the hinges (3) at the top, hook-in elements (4a and 4b) whereby power-driven hooks (5a and 5b) can be coupled to a hanger cross-bar (6), arranged on a crane jib (7) or the like, for lifting and for controlling the opening and closing operation. Arranged between the opening sides of the mutually adjacent container sections or half-shells (2a and 2b) is a partition (8) which, in its closed position, can be locked onto or in front of the opening side of one container section or of one half-shell (2b), and in at least one spread position of these container sections or half-shells (2a, 2b) can be transferred by an adjusting member (12a, 12b) from the locking position into an unlocking position. The essential feature of the hinged container (1) resides in the fact that the container section or the half-shell (2b) on which the partition (8) can be locked contains a dividing wall oriented transversely to the partition (8), that the partition (8) consists of two partition sections whose join coincides with the plane of the dividing wall, and that the two partition sections can be locked to or unlocked from the container section or the half-shell (2b) independently of each other. <IMAGE>
