Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0594541A2] The sonotrode is annular and vibrates as a flexural vibrator at one of its natural frequencies, preferably with four nodes distributed over its circumference. As a result, the vibrations initiated along the axis (10) at the input (17) can be picked up along an output axis (19) angled away by 90@ at the output (18). Due to this design, even relatively inaccessible workpieces can be efficiently machined with ultrasonics. <IMAGE>
