[origin: FR2679091A1] A method and a device for inserting a related data signal, particularly an audio signal, into a video signal. The related data signal is compressed and converted into compressed portions, and the compression ratio is adjusted so that each portion which initially corresponds to the length of one video signal frame has the same length as one video signal line (or a fraction of a line, or a small number of lines) once it has been compressed. Each of the portions thereby compressed is inserted into each video signal frame to replace one line (or a fraction of a line or a small number of lines). An enriched video signal representing a moving picture with related data is thereby obtained. This signal has exactly the same features as a standard video signal and may be recorded or transmitted using conventional equipment. Reverse processing (sampling of compressed audio portions followed by decompression) restores a video signal and a related data signal which are directly usable.

L'invention vise un procédé et un dispositif d'insertion dans un signal vidéo d'un signal d'informations associées, notamment signal audio. L'on comprime le signal d'informations associées pour le transformer en portions comprimées; le taux de compression est adapté de sorte que chaque portion correspondant initialement à la durée d'une trame du signal vidéo, présente une fois comprimée une durée égale à celle d'une ligne du signal vidéo (ou d'une fraction de ligne ou d'un petit nombre de lignes). Chaque portion ainsi comprimée est insérée dans chaque trame du signal vidéo à la place d'une ligne (ou d'une fraction de ligne ou d'un petit nombre de lignes). L'on produit ainsi un signal vidéo enrichi représentatif d'une image mobile associée à des informations: ce signal possède rigoureusement la même nature qu'un signal vidéo standard et peut être enregistré ou émis au moyen de matériels traditionnels. Un traitement inverse (prélèvement des portions audio comprimées et décompression) restitue un signal vidéo et un signal d'informations associées directement exploitables.
