[origin: DE4124419A1] In order to avoid the time-consuming and labour-intensive adjustment of key beds in the area between a cutter of a tunnelling shield and its supporting frame, the invention calls for a new type of cutter radial-control unit. In order to provide radial control of the cutters (2) which rest against the supporting frames (4, 6) and are driven forward individually in a given sequence two keys (10, 12), disposed one on top of the other, are located between the underside (8) of each cutter (2) and the forward supporting frame (4) (i.e. that located in front in the direction of cutter advance). One key (10) is fitted on the underside (8) of the cutter (2) so that it cannot move in the cutter advance direction relative to the supporting frame (4), while the other key (12) can be moved by means of a drive device, in particular a hydraulic or pneumatic drive, relative to the supporting frame (4), thus providing the cutter inclination necessary for radial control.
