In a cover 7 for the inspection opening in the housing of a centrifuge, in particular in the cover plate 6 of a vertical centrifuge 2, the cover joint is to be constructed in such a way that the seal located in the edge area of the cover 7 is no longer subjected to wear by abrasion during the opening and closing of the cover 7. Bei einem Deckel 7 für die Inspektionsöffnung im Gehäuse einer Zentrifuge, insbesondere in der Deckelplatte 6 einer Vertikalzentrifuge 2 soll das Deckelgelenk so ausgebildet sein, daß die im Randbereich des Deckels 7 befindliche Dichtung beim Öffnen und Schließen des Deckels 7 keinen Reibverschleiß mehr ausgesetzt ist. Hierzu wird vorgeschlagen, daß der Deckel 7 mittels einer Mehrgelenk-Hebeleinrichtung 9, 10, 11 am Gehäuse angelenkt ist, die nach der Maßgabe gestaltet ist, daß der Deckel 7 in der ersten Phase des Öffnens und in der letzten Phase des Schließens im wesentlichen einen senkrechten Hub durchführt. <IMAGE>
