Abstract (en)
A control valve (126) for use in a swimming pool containing an automatic pool cleaner is described. The valve (126) comprises a main water passage (128) having an inlet port in a cranked inlet portion (130) and an outlet port (140). A valve chamber (136) extends from the main passage. It has a relief valve and an outlet (158) through its side wall. A by-pass passage (156) connects the outlet (158) to the main water passage (128). A valve member (142) sensitive to the pressure in the by-pass passage (156) is located within the chamber (136) and is biassed by a spring (152) into a closed position to close off the relief port (140). When the pressure in the by pass passage (156) falls, the valve member (142) is drawn into the open position in which it controls the opening of both the relief valve and the outlet (158) in dependence upon its position. <IMAGE>
