[origin: EP0596303A1] What is illustrated and described is a machine for the tying round of packages (10) with especially band-shaped tie-round means (13) which is introduced from a band stock (12) into a band-guide channel and is fed through the latter to a band-fastening unit (19), the band-guide channel being provided on a frame (22) which can be constructed from two essentially half frame parts (semi-frames (23, 24)) which are advanced out of the position of rest inwards relative to the package-supporting plane (20), are closed to form a frame in the tying-round plane (25) and, after a tying-round operation, are opened again and lowered into the position of rest. So that rapid machine sequences can be achieved, the semi-frames are closed by means of their advancing movement and, by means of their opening movement, are lowered and displaced transversely in relation to the tying-round plane, in such a way that they assume their position of rest next to machine parts (16) located in the tying-round plane (25). The advancing, the closing and opening and the lowering of the part frames can thus each take place synchronously. <IMAGE>
