[origin: EP0596368A1] Tool for tying an article, especially a cable harness (19), by means of a band consisting of a band tongue (7) and of a buckle which is fixedly connected to the latter and which has a band orifice (25) for receiving and retaining the free end (30) of the band tongue and, in the tied state, at least one region (34) projecting laterally. For guiding the band tongue around the article to be tied, the tool comprises a looping-round guide (15) which has at least one movable part for opening and closing. To hold the buckle during the tying operation, there is provided a buckle mounting which is formed at least partially by a part (21) retaining the laterally projecting region of the buckle. So that the part (21) does not impede the extraction of the buckle from the buckle mounting, it is removable. To avoid a special support, drive device and control, according to the invention this part (21) is connected to the movable part (16) of the looping-round guide. <IMAGE>
