[origin: EP0596370A1] Tool for tying an article by means of a band, which has a band tongue (7) and a band buckle (8) with a band orifice (25) receiving the free end (27) of the band tongue. The tool comprises a buckle mounting and an openable and closable looping-round guide (15), extending from the buckle mounting and returning to the latter, for the purpose of guiding the band around the article to be tied. The tool comprises, furthermore, a slide (9) for conveying the band into a position in which the band tongue is located in the looping-round guide and the buckle is located in the buckle mounting. According to the invention, the buckle mounting is formed at least partially by the slide (9). For the fixed inclusion of the buckle in the mounting, there is therefore no need for any other mounting parts having associated drive and control means. The part of the buckle mounting arranged on the slide (9) can have a guide (32) for the free band end (27) passing from the looping-round guide into the buckle-mounting region. It thereby becomes possible to arrange the buckle mounting directly on the circle circumference available for receiving the article to be tied. <IMAGE>
