[origin: EP0597551A1] Method for perforating the wall of a drinking straw having a needle, the drinking straw being packaged in film material and then being perforated through the packaging, and a device for implementing this method, provided with a knife, a counter-cutting surface and transport means for moving a strand of drinking straws packaged in individual compartments between the knife and the counter-cutting surface, characterised by a needle, which is arranged essentially at right angles to the strand and, when the knife is moved to sever the individual compartments, forms a hole in the drinking straw packaged in the compartment to be severed. <IMAGE>
