The cover includes a plate, a skirt (6) and a fold (7) which are an extension of one another and are intended to cover the top of a cushion, at least over most of its sides (3b) and a band (3c) corresponding to its underside, at least most of the length of the free edge of the fold (7) being pleated and tensioned by sewing (along 12) this edge in its previously pleated state onto an inextensible string extending without folding along the said edge. <IMAGE>
