[origin: EP0598248A1] A hand-operated circular saw with electric motor drive, comprising a baseplate (15) and a motor casing (10) which is pivotable relative to the latter and contains a rotatable circular saw blade (12), has, for the splinter-free sawing of coated workpieces, a scoring stop (21) for setting a scoring position of the saw blade (12), in which, before the sawing operation, the covering layer of the workpiece is scored by the saw blade (12) with a limited penetration depth. To be able to use both guide rail and parallel stop during the scoring, the scoring stop (21) has two fixed stop positions, in which two different pivoted positions of the motor casing (10) with respect to the baseplate (15) are set. The stop positions are preset so that in the one stop position a guidance of the baseplate (15) on a guide rail and in the other stop position a guidance of the baseplate (15) with a parallel stop are possible during scoring. <IMAGE>
