[origin: EP0598927A1] The invention makes provision for an actuating gear mechanism for fittings on windows, doors or the like, in the case of which two flat drive rods, located in one plane, can be adjusted synchronously and in opposite directions via a manual actuating element which can rotate about an axis. The effective length of the driver arm, which is coupled to the manual actuating element, is greater than the depth of a rebate groove into which the drive housing is introduced and in which the drive rods slide beneath a covering rail. By virtue of the large arm length, a large displacement path for the drive rods, along with limited rotary movement of the manual actuating element, is achieved in conjunction with the possibility of moving the driver arm in the end positions in each case into a dead-centre position, which locks the gear mechanism, with respect to said gear mechanism.
