[origin: EP0599158A1] An airbag for restraint systems in vehicles consists of a plurality of fabric parts (16, 20, 22) of differing gas permeability. All the fabric parts (16, 20, 22) of the airbag can nevertheless be made from textile material of the same quality, particularly of the same thread density, if the gas permeability of the fabric is set in the light of the stress ratio between the warp and weft threads on the inflated airbag and in the light of the dynamic behaviour of the gas permeability over the fabric weave and the working-in. Fabric parts of equal quality can be sewn together easily in mass production, and the seams are of high structural strength. <IMAGE>
