Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0599192A1] The invention relates to a method for monitoring and operating a radio link between the monitoring sensors and the central unit of an alarm system. Alarm systems of this kind are preferably used for monitoring industrial or private buildings. To keep the installation work as simple as possible radio alarm systems are often used which comprise a central unit and various indicating units. To ensure operational reliability, data messages are exchanged between the indicating units and the central unit at specific time intervals. The disadvantage of the known radio alarm systems is their high energy consumption, in particular in the case of the indicating units which are run from batteries or accumulators. It is therefore proposed to control the exchange of data messages as a function of the disturbances present in the radio channels. In this way the time interval between the exchanges of data messages can be increased if no disturbances are present.
