[origin: EP0599674A1] Device intended for laterally charging iron and steel industry products, such as, in particular, ingots (billets), directly into the heating zone of a furnace, especially a reheating furnace, to which the iron and steel industry products are brought by a handling means of known type, this device being characterised in that it includes a chute (14) on which the product (10) is placed by the handling means, before lateral charging into the furnace, this chute being used for supporting the said product during the charging into the furnace and being provided for this purpose with displacement means (40-46) for inserting it into the furnace at the same time as the product which it supports, means (48) being furthermore provided for depositing the said product into the furnace from the said chute.
