[origin: WO9217193A1] A medicament containing an agent inhibiting in vivo pathological apoptosis may contain: an agent capable of blocking the reception or transduction of signals leading to cell suicide, or an agent providing or generating a co-signal enabling normal cell differentiation and multiplication, or an agent which, alone, causes cell proliferation and differentiation, and generates cells which have lost the suicide capability in pathological conditions, or an agent capable of inhibiting the signals which make a cell capable of responding to activation, by pathological apoptosis. Said medicaments may be used in treating retrovirus related diseases, and in particular diseases related to the lentiviruses such as the HIV in humans.

Abstract (fr)

Ce médicament peut contenir: soit un agent capable de bloquer la réception ou la transduction de signaux conduisant au suicide des cellules, soit un agent apportant ou générant un cosignal permettant à la cellule de se différencier et de se multiplier normalement, soit un agent qui à lui seul entraîne la prolifération et la différenciation cellulaires et génère des cellules qui ont perdu la capacité à se suicider dans des conditions pathologiques, soit un agent capable d'inhiber les signaux qui rendent une cellule susceptible de répondre à une activation, par une apoptose pathologique. De tels médicaments peuvent être utilisés dans le traitement des maladies liées au rétrovirus, et en particulier liées aux lentivirus tels que le virus HIV chez l'homme.
