[origin: EP0602383A2] The invention relates to an electronic control device for machines, particularly for textile machines, having a plurality of cyclically synchronously controlled functional elements (5), having an industrial PC (1), having position-oriented controllable motors (3) for driving the functional elements (5), to which intelligent drive units are assigned, and having a clock cycle generator for the machine cycle. With the aim of ensuring fault-free working under all operating conditions, the clock cycle generator for the machine cycle is equipped with a clock generator and at least one adjustable digital pulse frequency converter for a cycle clock cycle and a movement clock cycle. The cycle clock cycle pulse controls the zero position of the drive unit and the program selection and triggers the program start for cyclic processes in the drive units. The movement clock cycle times are preselected fractions of the cycle clock cycle time, while the movement clock cycle pulses trigger the step-wise working out of stroke-pulse programs. A measuring transmitter for absolute stroke variables is assigned to the position-oriented controllable motor (3) and its drive unit. <IMAGE>
