Decoy for infrared simulation of an only moderately warm object such as, e.g., a land or sea vehicle, implemented as a floating (suspended) cloud of powder consisting of an active substance and introduced into the air in the vicinity of the object. The active substance consists of substances which heat (moist) air or otherwise react exothermally.
