This involves checking the fitting of a lens (10) to be ground, to a spectacles frame. According to the invention, this fit check is done on the grinding machine (11) itself, by mounting the lens (10) to be ground on its support spindle (15), bringing this lens (10) into contact with the grinding wheel (12) without this grinding wheel rotating at all, causing the support spindle (15) to rotate step by step until the lens (10) to be ground makes a complete revolution on itself and checking whether, during this revolution, the contact detector (17) associated with the template (jig) (16), is actuated by this lens. Il s'agit de contrôler l'adéquation à une monture de lunettes d'un verre (10) à meuler. Suivant l'invention, ce contrôle d'adéquation se fait sur la meuleuse (11) elle-même, en montant le verre (10) à meuler sur sa broche de support (15), en amenant ce verre (10) au contact de la meule (12) en l'absence de toute rotation de celle-ci, en faisant tourner pas à pas la broche de support (15) jusqu'à ce que le verre (10) à meuler fasse sur lui-même un tour complet, et en contrôlant si, au cours de ce tour, le détecteur de contact (17) associé au gabarit (16) est actionné par celui-ci. Application aux meuleuses mises en oeuvre pour le débordage d'un verre de lunettes. <IMAGE>
