Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0603447A1] The fuel injection pump has a cylinder (2) containing a delivery chamber (4), a piston (3) axially movable therein and a suction chamber (7) connected to the delivery chamber (4), the connection of which suction chamber to the delivery chamber is interrupted during the delivery phase. Inside its circumferential surface, the piston (3) has an axial passage (13) emerging from its end face (3') in contact with the delivery chamber (4) and a transverse passage (12) emerging from the said passage and opening into the circumferential surface of the piston. In the area of the transverse passage a slide valve (9) surrounding the piston is arranged so that it is axially adjustable. The slide valve has a first control edge (10), at right angles to the direction of movement of the piston and interacting with the transverse passage (12), for influencing the start of delivery and a second control edge (11), slanting in relation to the direction of movement of the piston and interacting with the transverse passage (12), for influencing the end of delivery. The slide valve (9) or the piston (3) is capable of rotating about its axis relative to the piston or to the slide valve. <IMAGE>
