Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0531787A1] In devices for combining a residual stack (1) of sheets and a main stack (2) of sheets to form a combined stack, racks (8) formed from lattice rods (3) are used, which racks (8) temporarily take hold of the residual stack (1) of sheets from below and against the underside of which the top of the main stack (2) of sheets temporarily rests. The lattice rods (3) have, on their ends which are at the front when they are inserted under the residual stack (1) of sheets, a cross-section which decreases in height in an essentially constant manner. According to the invention, the decrease in the cross-section at the forward ends of the lattice rods (3) is characterised in that a lateral surface of the residual stack (1) of sheets pointing in the direction of insertion of the lattice rods (3) is lowered onto a reduced cross section of the lattice rods (3) at the same time as the residual stack (1) of sheets is deposited on the lattice rods (3). By using a device according to the invention together with a sheet feed of a printing press, malfunctions which can be ascribed to sagging of the residual stack (1) of sheets in a final phase of combination of the stacks are avoided during operation of the said printing press. <IMAGE>
