[origin: EP0604837A1] A manually operated control switch for lifting appliances has a housing whose one wall forms a front panel. At least one operating rocker (23) is supported in the front panel such that it can pivot. A total of three accommodation spaces for push-button switching units (22) is provided in the interior of the housing. One of the accommodation spaces is located under the shaft of the operating rocker (23), while the two other accommodation spaces are arranged on a straight line running at right angles to the shaft of the operating rocker. The control switch can be fitted either with three push-button switching units or with two push-button switching units, in the latter case that accommodation space which is located under the shaft of the operating rocker remaining empty. Immediately adjacent push-button switching units (22) are in each case connected to one another by means of a coupling device (39, 55), and the operating rocker acts on this coupling device. <IMAGE>
