[origin: EP0604929A2] For the slicing of thin planks from heated squared timber, an arrangement is described in which the heating-up means (12, 14) for the squared timber consist of at least two separate heating devices, namely a heating-up device (12) for the starting squared timber and at least one reheating device (14) for the remaining squared timber, which after passing through the cutting device (40) is returned to the position upstream of the cutting device (40). For a quasi-continuous production sequence, this arrangement has the advantage that the heat output and the capacity of the separate heating devices (12, 14) can be better adapted to the particular requirement at a designated point of the production sequence. The heating-up device (12, 14) is preferably a hot-water immersion device. <IMAGE>
