[origin: EP0605072A1] The invention relates to improved ship propulsion with two contra-rotating propellers, the rear propeller of which is fastened at the head end to an inner shaft and the front propeller of which is fastened at the head end to a hollow shaft guided concentrically to the inner shaft, in which arrangement the inner shaft is passed through gearing and can be fastened at the foot end to an output shaft of a first engine, and arranged at the foot end on the hollow shaft is a gear which meshes with a further gear which is fastened to an input shaft which is guided parallel to the inner shaft and can be connected to the output of a second engine. <IMAGE>
